Totally Naked

Last year, the very first day of ministry, the team hit the ground and had their first encounter. He was affectionately named Adam… as he was wearing the exact same thing as the man in the Garden of Eden… pre-fall. Yup… totally naked. Adam was a regular part of every day of the team’s ministry last year. Sometimes he would have a loincloth…….. in his hand. The men of the team regularly approached him, tried to talk to him, tried to share the Gospel with him, but every time he would freak out. He wouldn’t speak in Spanish… he wouldn’t speak in English… he would frantically motion and freak out and speak jibberish.

When Jesus was on Earth he had his own version of “Adam” during his first outreach as well. In Mark chapter 5, Jesus is taking his disciples out on a mission trip and as they’re going they encounter “Adam”… otherwise known as the demoniac chained up with the pigs. Jesus freed him and then sent him as the first missionary, back to his own friends and family to show them what God had done. Funny enough… this is the very Scripture God brought up during this morning’s team devotionals.

We’ve had incredible ministry this whole week. God has led and directed every step so clearly. Doors to ministry have flung WIDE open. Today was no different. We walked and visited couples who have come to the marriage conference. Many of the couples are neither Christians or only one is a Christian so we went to share the Gospel. After great, fruitful ministry we returned to the church to wait for the bus.

As we stood there, the pastors, Rigoberto and Manuel, said “Oh, did you see Adam?” What??? Last night, during the movie night at the marriage conference, “Adam” returned. But this time, Adam was fully clothed and completely in his right mind. Adam was free. Adam. Was. Free.

ADAM WAS FREE!!!!!!!

Rigoberto and Manuel and their church have prayed for Adam since we left. And God has worked in his life. He is now sane and normal…. And clothed J We didn’t even recognize him since he had clothes on!

Tonight when we return we can’t wait to see him. We can’t wait to talk with him. We can’t wait to hear what God has done and share the amazing plans God has for him.

Just like Mark 5, there is a free man ready to tell his story to his community. The next missionary is ready to be sent!
